Just over 100 years ago the White Mountains, home of Loon Mountain, rang with the sounds of loggers harvesting timber and moving the logs to mills downstream. Sherman Adams, founder of Loon Mountain, began the tradition of naming Loon's trails with terms from the old logging days. Adams was an avid outdoorsman and professional logger for 25 years before becoming Governor of New Hampshire and chief aide to President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Loon Mountain has the most powerful snowmaking coverage in New Hampshire with its state-of-the-art computerized snowmaking system. Loon offers something for everyone, from black diamond runs featuring 60 degree pitches, a 5,000 foot snowboard park and a separate terrain park, to day and night tubing and après ski activities for the entire family. The only tuning machine of its kind east of the Rockies, the Snowell tuner is the same machine used to tune the equipment of World Cup racers.
